SVS have announced the introduction of Prism & Spectrum range of coating systems specifically aimed at the optical thin film coating market. Evolved from the tried and trusted industrial coaters, SVS shares the benefit of years of experience in high volume quality focused applications. The High Energy Advanced Ion Source will facilitate substrate pre-treatment as well as ion assisted deposition to produce dense, very stable coatings of exceptional quality.
The PRISM range of optical evaporators is available in 3 chamber sizes (900, 1200 & 1500mm substrate fixture), with the following standard equipment:
- PLC & PC/HMI Control System
- Choice of either diffusion, cryo or turbo pumping systems
- Quartz crystal rate & thickness control
- Up to 3 single or multi hearth Temescal e-beam sources
- Multi boat resistance heated sources
- High energy advanced ion beam source
- Combination Pirani/Bayard-Alpert hot ion gauge
- 2 channel mass flow controller for reactive gas admission
- Quartz lamp radiant substrate heating
- Rotary substrate holder with customised work holders
Optional extras include:
- In-situ transmittance/reflectance monitoring
- Optical pyrometer temperature control
- Planetary substrate rotation
The SPECTRUM range of optical sputter systems is available in either a rotary layout (Spectrum-R), or a linear system (Spectrum-L) with the following standard equipment:
- Industrial PC control
- High quantity turbo pumps with PFPE backing pump
- Deposition rate monitor & controller
- 2 high uniformity/usage dual magnetrons
- 2 channel mass flow controller for reactive gas admission
- Combination Pirani/Bayard-Alpert hot ion gauge
- Nitrogen purge & vent
- Rotary/Linear substrate translation

Process Integration
SVS now offer a process optimisation and integration service to support their new range of optical coating systems. These can be tailored to suit each customer’s specific requirements. Working hand in hand with your process engineers SVS will develop training programmes for operators and advise on production area layout to facilitate a seamless start up and pain free ownership.
